The history of Singapore, the small fishing village that became The Switzerland of Asia
An island, a state, a city. Singapore, the “lion city” in Sanskrit, has the 3rd largest population density in the world. Five million inhabitants, spread over 714 square kilometers and a multitude of islands. Through its neighborhoods: Indian, Malay, Chinese, colonial… you can tour Asia and retrace the course of history!
The fantastic history of Singapore or the history of this state that started from nothing. When we talk about rich countries, Singapore does not necessarily appear among the first names that come to mind. And yet this small state of only 5.6 million inhabitants is an example of wealth and economic attractiveness. Located in the South-East, at the end of the Malaysian peninsula, Singapore is a city state which in fifty years has become an extremely wealthy state and a true model of success.

Seletar Fishing Village may be known as Singapore’s last fishing village, but fishing is not what it is popular for. Cyclists and explorers know that the small beach and the breakwater that lines it are a secret – and probably the best – place to watch the sunset in Singapore. When the tide is low, you can even walk down to the beach and marshland area. If you plan to explore the area at low tide, remember to wear appropriate walking shoes. And if you have time, be sure to check out the views of neighboring Punggol Barat Island and Rower’s Bay Park.
