Calcutta: 10 July 2024, a cruise along the Ganges to promote Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is stepping up its tourism promotion in India, particularly in Kolkata, with a networking event on a cruise along the Ganges on 10 July 2024. The aim is to strengthen relations and attract more Indian tourists, thereby contributing to the growth of tourism in Sri Lanka. Improvements in public transport facilitate access to the island’s varied attractions, strengthening ties between the two countries.
Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister thanks India for its support for tourism. The country aims to attract 2.5 million tourists by the end of 2024, with a global marketing campaign. Tourism is the island’s third largest source of revenue, extending beyond beaches to sport, culture and MICE events.
