Australia : The Mandurah Giants by Thomas Dambo
Get ready for an epic adventure! Internationally acclaimed Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s first Australian exhibition ‘The Giants of Mandurah’, will launch in November in Mandurah, an hour’s drive south of Perth. Arguably one of his most ambitious projects to date, ‘The Giants of Mandurah’ is an outdoor exhibition and play of self-discovery that celebrates and advocates for the protection of the Peel Region’s extraordinary natural environment. Thomas has exhibited extensively internationally, including in Denmark, the United States, France, Germany, China, South Korea and Chile. Both an artist and activist, his practice celebrates the diversity, beauty and importance of the natural world, with his works handcrafted from recycled and locally sourced materials. Through his trash-to-treasure approach, Thomas highlights the possibilities of waste and the urgency of environmental sustainability. ‘Giants of Mandurah’ was initiated and produced by FORM Building A State of Creativity and delivered in collaboration with the City of Mandurah. The project is supported by the State Government through Tourism Western Australia’s Regional Events Program, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Lotterywest.
