Muscat, one of the oldest cities in Arabia
Nestled between mountains and the sea, Mascate, the capital of Oman, serves as the country’s entry point. She spans more than 60 kilometers and has the appeal of a city that is both modern and traditional. There are no structures that block the view, no tall buildings that are framed to obscure the view, and no architectural folie.
Archeological remnants confirm that a fishing settlement existed at the site of the present-day city of Mascate as early as the third millennium. Since the second century, the city has been known to both Greeks and Romans.
