Omani Crafts Exhibition in Muscat Celebrates Tradition and Innovation
The Omani Crafts Exhibition, themed “Authenticity and Modernity,” has commenced in Muscat and will run until February 22. Organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the event highlights Oman’s rich craft heritage and its cultural and historical significance.
The opening ceremony was led by His Excellency Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, in the presence of dignitaries and officials from various government entities.
The exhibition aims to showcase the cultural, economic, and social value of Omani crafts, introduce traditional craftsmanship, and explore innovative ways to integrate these artisanal products into modern life. It also serves as a platform to foster collaboration among key stakeholders in the craft industry.
The event brings together skilled artisans who continue to practice traditional crafts, alongside emerging entrepreneurs from small and medium enterprises who blend creativity and innovation while preserving Omani identity.
Visitors can explore two main sections:
- The Authenticity Pavilion, featuring collectibles and artifacts from Omani craft heritage, a dedicated governorates section, and a photo gallery showcasing key elements of Omani craftsmanship.
- The Contemporary Pavilion, which highlights modern craft entrepreneurs and creative applications of traditional crafts in daily life.
By merging heritage with innovation, the exhibition reinforces Oman’s commitment to preserving its craftsmanship while adapting it to contemporary demands.
