Plastic Odyssey Sets Sail Across the Indian Ocean to Tackle Plastic Pollution

From April to July, the Plastic Odyssey ship is embarking on a regional tour across the Indian Ocean with a clear mission: to raise awareness about the devastating impact of plastic pollution and to promote practical circular economy solutions, guided by the 3Rs principle — Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

This initiative is led by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) through its project Indian Ocean Plastic Expedition – ExPLOI, with support from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM). It is carried out in collaboration with Plastic Odyssey and backed by the Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB).

As a floating innovation hub, Plastic Odyssey aims to spark change at the grassroots level by connecting with local communities and showcasing actionable strategies to combat plastic waste. The expedition is a powerful step toward a cleaner, more sustainable Indian Ocean.
