Aldabra Atoll: A unique and preserved natural sanctuary in the heart of the Indian Ocean

Located in the Seychelles, in the heart of the Indian Ocean, Aldabra Atoll is one of the largest coral atolls in the world, remarkably preserved from human influence due to its isolation.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is home to the world’s largest population of giant tortoises and an exceptionally rich and endemic ecosystem.

A true natural laboratory, Aldabra offers a rare example of intact ecological processes, spectacular geological formations, and remarkable biodiversity, both on land and in the sea. Its careful management by the Seychelles Islands Foundation and limited access help protect this fragile ecosystem from threats such as climate change and invasive species.
