Nairobi to Host International Conference on the Authenticity of African Cultural Heritage
From May 6 to 9, 2025, Nairobi, Kenya is hosting the International Conference on Cultural Heritage in Africa, bringing together cultural experts, policymakers, and heritage stakeholders from across the continent and around the world to explore the concept of authenticity.
This in-person event serves as a platform for rich dialogue on the understanding of authenticity in the African context, emphasizing the preservation and recognition of cultural practices, knowledge, expressions, and tangible and intangible heritage.
Currently underway, the conference features open debates, case studies, and collaborative exchanges that aim to strengthen the visibility and protection of Africa’s heritage within global narratives.
Participants include academics, community representatives, government officials, NGOs, and international partners—all working toward redefining the meaning of authenticity and integrity in African heritage and ensuring its lasting impact.
