Khareef Season 2025 – Celebrating Oman’s Verdant Legacy in Dhofar

Each year, from June 21st to September 20th, southern Oman undergoes a remarkable transformation known as the Khareef season. This atmospheric phenomenon transforms the Dhofar region — particularly around the city of Salalah — into a verdant, mist-covered paradise. It represents a unique climatic event on the Arabian Peninsula, where dry desert landscapes are temporarily supplanted by lush mountains, cascading waterfalls, and cool, fog-laden air.

In 2024, the Khareef attracted over 1.048 million visitors, reflecting a 9% increase from the previous year. This rising interest underscores not only the natural beauty of the region but also its rich cultural heritage. The Khareef Festival, held annually during this season, showcases traditional Omani music, crafts, and cuisine, providing an immersive experience that delves into the essence of Omani identity.

As Khareef 2025 approaches, it is poised to once again captivate travelers with its exceptional beauty, further solidifying Dhofar’s reputation as a beacon of Oman’s environmental and cultural wealth. Whether drawn by the refreshing weather, stunning landscapes, or the warm hospitality of the locals, visitors will discover in Khareef an authentic and revitalizing encounter with Oman’s living heritage.
