Stories and Histories of the Indian Ocean World
A special conversation centred on the Indian Ocean and the many histories and stories it carries across time.
The session brings together Amitav Ghosh, whose writing often returns to the ocean as a living presence, and Mahmood Kooria, Infosys Prize 2024 laureate in Humanities and Social Sciences, whose research focuses on political and cultural change along the Indian Ocean littoral.
The conversation will be chaired by Akeel Bilgrami, Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University and Jury Chair for the Infosys Prize in Humanities and Social Sciences.
