Sydney Celebrates “Rememory”: The 25th Biennale Transforms the City
From 14 March to 14 June, the Biennale of Sydney returns to Sydney, Australia, for its landmark 25th edition, transforming the harbour city into a vibrant celebration of contemporary art. Presented across major cultural venues — Art Gallery of New South Wales, Campbelltown Arts Centre, Chau Chak Wing Museum at the University of Sydney, Penrith Regional Gallery, and White Bay Power Station — plus satellite spaces across inner-city and greater Sydney, Australia, the Biennale promises an expansive cultural journey.
Curated by artistic director Hoor Al Qasimi, this year’s edition is titled “Rememory,” inspired by the concept coined by Nobel Prize-winning American author Toni Morrison. The exhibition explores how memory and history intersect, revisiting and reclaiming stories that shape our collective present.
Featuring 83 artists, collectives and collaborations from 37 countries, including Australia, the 2026 Biennale highlights powerful international voices while expanding its footprint across Western Sydney, Australia.
