George Town Literary Festival 2026: Celebrating Literature and Cultural Diversity in Malaysia

Celebrating literature, cultural diversity and the power of storytelling!

In the heart of George Town, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its rich multicultural heritage, the George Town Literary Festival returns for its 16th edition, bringing together writers, poets, thinkers and literature lovers from Malaysia and around the world.

Under the theme “Cosmopolises”, this year’s festival explores how cities become meeting places for languages, cultures, memories and traditions — and how literature helps us understand one another across borders.

Over three inspiring days, visitors can discover a vibrant programme of literary conversations, poetry readings, book launches, creative workshops, performances and cultural exchanges.

Exploring the art of translation, migration, identity and belonging, the festival celebrates the extraordinary diversity of voices that shape our world. It is an invitation to explore Malaysia‘s cultural richness, discover new perspectives and celebrate literature as a bridge between people and cultures.

📅 27–29 November 2026
