KENYA : Meru national park

Meru is beautiful, isolated, rugged and unspoilt, set in inaccessible wilderness and yet surrounded by unspoilt natural beauty. It is a wild and beautiful country that straddles the equator and is crossed by 13 rivers and countless mountain streams. The landscape here is diverse, from forests 3,000 feet above sea level on the slopes of the Nyambene Mountains, northeast of Mount Kenya, to vast plains dotted with cursed palm trees along the riverbanks winding rivers. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, Grévy’s zebras, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hartebeest, hippos, buffalo and reticulated giraffes. Meru is home to the Rhino Sanctuary, which is home to the endangered black and white rhino species. Rhinos are critically endangered and are monitored 24 hours a day.
