‘Bloom at Dusk’: a solo exhibition by Jodhaiya Bai Baiga
On January 23, Ojas Art in New Delhi will have a solo exhibition called “Bloom at Dusk,” which will feature pieces by indigenous artist Jodhaiya Bai Baiga (1937–2024). The exhibition, which was curated by Minhazz Majumdar, features more than fifty paintings and chronicles the late artist’s artistic journey, which started in her late sixties.
The exhibition is closed on Mondays and will be open until March 11. In the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh, where Jodhaiya Bai resided for a large portion of her life, it brings together works that draw from Baiga cosmology, forest life, and personal experience.
In 2022 and 2023, Jodhaiya Bai received the Padma Shri and Nari Shakti Puraskar, respectively. Her artwork has been exhibited both domestically in India and abroad, including in Milan and Paris. Her first significant solo retrospective is Bloom at Dusk.
