The Manigala Climb Road runs from the Knuckles Conservation Center to Illukkumbura through mountains, plains and parks. Climbers can start their journey from the beautiful Rathinda village and the trek through the village to the starting point will be priceless. The village of Rathinda is adjacent to real rural life with paddy fields, plantations and all the rural beauty. On some sunny days it is best to start the journey in the morning as the environment is quite warm by noon. If you do not know the route, it is advisable to go with a guide, who can easily find a villager as your guide.

The villagers of Manigala used the shadow of the mountain to determine the time of day. King Ravana’s flight (Dandumonaraya) landed on this mountain 7500 years ago and the place is also known as ‘Ravanathenna’. The damaged part of the square is believed to be the entrance to the palace of King Ravana. There is another belief that this is a place where universal power is concentrated.
