Maldives to Take the Spotlight as Host Country of ITB Berlin 2027
The Maldives will take center stage as the Official Host Country of the ITB Berlin 2027, one of the world’s most influential travel industry events, scheduled for 16–18 March 2027 in Berlin.
This recognition places the Indian Ocean archipelago in the global spotlight, offering a unique opportunity to present its tourism vision to professionals and media from more than 170 countries. The appointment was confirmed during the previous edition of the fair through a partnership between the Maldivian tourism authorities and the organizers of the event.
Renowned for its over 1,000 coral islands, turquoise lagoons and pristine beaches, the Maldives has become one of the most iconic destinations for luxury travel. At ITB Berlin 2027, the country plans to showcase the diversity of its experiences — from exclusive island resorts and boutique hotels to diving, wellness retreats and cultural encounters on local islands.
Beyond luxury, the Maldives also aims to highlight its commitment to sustainable tourism. Environmental initiatives such as coral reef protection, marine ecosystem conservation and community-based tourism are central to the country’s strategy, demonstrating how high-end travel can coexist with responsible environmental stewardship.
The year 2027 has also been designated “Visit Maldives Year,” a global campaign designed to strengthen the destination’s international presence through events, partnerships and promotional activities worldwide.
Through this major role at ITB Berlin, the Maldives will reaffirm its position as a global leader in luxury island tourism while championing a more sustainable future for travel.
