One Ocean, One Vision: Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia Redefine Marine Tourism Leadership
Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia are ushering in a new era of marine tourism across the Indian Ocean by joining forces to create seamless, cross-border travel experiences. Through integrated cruise routes, yachting corridors, and harmonised coastal infrastructure, the three nations are transforming shared seas into a connected, world-class marine destination.
This regional collaboration places sustainability at its core, combining ocean conservation, community-led coastal tourism, and responsible maritime development. By working together rather than competing, the countries are elevating the region’s appeal to high-value, experience-driven travellers while protecting the natural assets that underpin marine tourism.
This shared vision was showcased at the Thailand Boat Festival 2026, held from 15 to 18 January 2026, which served as a strategic platform for regional cooperation, innovation, and sustainable marine tourism development. Aligned with Thailand’s quality-focused tourism strategy, the festival reinforced the region’s ambition to position Southeast Asia as a leading hub for premium and responsible marine tourism across the Indian Ocean.
