Safinat Shabab Oman: Sailing for Peace and Cultural Dialogue
The Oman Youth Sail Training Ship (Safinat Shabab Oman) programme has been recognized in 2024 on the Register of Good Safeguarding Practices for its outstanding contribution to peace and cultural exchange. Since its inception, the initiative has undertaken 18 voyages, reaching over 55 countries, sharing Oman’s rich intangible cultural heritage with the world.
Funded by the State, this unique programme blends traditional sailing skills with cultural diplomacy, allowing young Omanis to serve as cultural ambassadors. Participants engage in traditional arts, literature, and crafts, fostering a deeper connection between global communities. The initiative also integrates accredited university hours, ensuring its legacy continues for future generations.
By combining heritage, education, and international cooperation, Safinat Shabab Oman is a beacon of peace, demonstrating how culture can unite nations and preserve global diversity for years to come.
