Shabab Oman II: An Ambassador of Peace and Heritage Honored by UNESCO
The Royal Navy of Oman’s Shabab Oman II has achieved a landmark recognition, as UNESCO honors its cultural outreach program as one of the best global practices for safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. This prestigious international acknowledgment highlights Oman’s commitment to sustainable peace and cultural dialogue through maritime diplomacy.
Currently embarking on its seventh international voyage, “Glories of the Seas”, Shabab Oman II sets sail toward Europe, visiting 15 countries and 30 destinations. More than just a training vessel, it serves as a floating cultural ambassador, bridging civilizations by promoting Omani traditions, seafaring legacy, and a universal message of friendship, coexistence, and shared human values.
Through its vibrant presence at international maritime festivals and its deep-rooted engagement in intercultural exchange, Shabab Oman II exemplifies how heritage can inspire dialogue and peace in a modern world—a mission now recognized on the world stage by UNESCO.
