South Africa and India Strengthen Ties and Collaboration: Forging a New Era of Partnership

Led by Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille and CEO Nombulelo Guliwe, a South African Tourism delegation recently visited India to strengthen collaboration within the tourism sector. A vibrant performance by South Indian artists highlighted the cultural ties between the two nations.

Minister de Lille’s election as Vice-Chair of the UNWTO for 2025 underscores South Africa’s significant role in global tourism. To facilitate travel, visa processing for Indian travelers will be expedited to 2-3 days, with an e-visa system set to launch on January 20, 2025. Additionally, efforts are underway to establish direct flights between South Africa and India.

South Africa aims to increase the share of Indian tourist arrivals from 3.9% to 10% by 2025. The delegation reiterated their commitment to welcoming Indian travelers, fostering a robust future for tourism and cooperation between South Africa and India.
