One of Southern Africa’s most beloved music escapes: STRAB Festival (Subterranean Rhythm and Blues) returns from 21 to 25 May 2025 in the coastal haven of Ponta Malongane, Mozambique. What started as a birthday bash for divers has evolved into a vibrant, multi-day beachside celebration of music, nature, and community.
STRAB isn’t your typical music festival. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Indian Ocean, it offers an intimate, laid-back atmosphere where music lovers gather to enjoy live performances by South African and regional artists across genres, rock, blues, folk, indie, reggae, and more.
With stages set up just steps from the ocean, festivalgoers can groove barefoot in the sand or lounge under palm trees between sets. Music flows from afternoon to late night, with beach jams and acoustic sets enhancing the magic of this oceanfront event.
Held at the Parque de Malongane Resort, STRAB also offers a range of outdoor and water activities, including scuba diving, snorkeling, dolphin safaris … For many attendees, it’s the perfect blend of adrenaline, relaxation, and musical discovery.
