Thailand Declares 2025 as Grand Tourism and Sports Year
As part of its “IGNITE THAILAND’S TOURISM” policy, the Thai government has named tourism one of the eight pillars of national economic development and declared 2025 the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year. The ambitious goal is to welcome 39 million visitors and generate 3 trillion baht in tourism revenue, positioning Thailand as a regional tourism hub and world-class destination.
To achieve this, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched five key promotional themes:
Grand Festivity – Year-round festivals and events including Maha Songkran Carnival, major music festivals (EDC, Wonderfruit), sports events like MotoGP and Amazing Thailand Marathon, as well as cultural highlights like the Wai Kru Muay Thai ceremony.
Grand Moment – Exclusive travel experiences such as the pink mist at Doi Inthanon and bioluminescent plankton in Chumphon.
Grand Privilege – Special promotions tied to themed months (e.g., romance in February, Songkran offers in April, countrywide sales in June, family travel in August, and international traveler perks in October).
Grand Invitation – Hosting global icons and influencers at major events to enhance international visibility.
Grand Celebration – Marking milestones in international relations and honoring tourism excellence, including anniversaries with China, Germany, France, and Indonesia.
The campaign also promotes Thailand’s “Hidden Treasure Cities,” cultural heritage, and “5 Must-Do Experiences”: Must Taste, Must Try, Must Buy, Must See, and Must Seek. By enhancing travel convenience and fostering cross-sector collaboration, Thailand aims to offer tourists an unforgettable cultural and sensory journey.
