Thailand’s Green Tourism Plan 2030: A Path to Sustainable Travel
Thailand has set an ambitious course with the launch of its Green Tourism Plan 2030, aiming to place Thai destinations among the Top 100 global sustainable tourism spots by 2030. Led by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the plan seeks to balance the economy, environment, and society, ensuring that tourism growth goes hand in hand with environmental conservation.
At the heart of this initiative is the Thailand Good Travel sustainability certification logo, a mark of quality for responsible tourism operators, from local communities and small hotels to tour businesses. This certification not only reassures travellers but also aligns Thailand with international sustainability benchmarks.
Backed by public, private, and academic partners, the plan reflects Thailand’s strong commitment to becoming a global leader in sustainable tourism — offering visitors authentic experiences while protecting natural and cultural heritage for future generations.
