The research program “Fisheries and Biodiversity in the Indian Ocean” (BRIDGES)
The goal? To train a new generation of experts capable of understanding, managing, and transforming the marine socio-ecosystems of the Southwest Indian Ocean (SWIO).
The program will fund at least nine three-year doctoral contracts, each with a research environment of €20,000. The selected theses will contribute to one of the BRIDGES challenges and to advancements at at least one of the program’s field sites, or will propose inter-site approaches. Topics may fall within one or more disciplines, but the entire cluster of theses must be multidisciplinary.
The doctoral candidates will benefit from an integrated training program combining scientific training, personal development, and co-creation workshops. The doctoral candidates and their supervisors will be required to sign the BRIDGES program’s code of conduct to ensure an ethical and collaborative working environment that adheres to the program’s principles.
