United Arab Emirates: Al Ain, the traditional seat of the Sheikhs
The city of Al-Ain was once a sumptuous oasis full of life, in the middle of the caravan route between the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Today considered one of the oldest camps in the world, Al-Ain constitutes a central element of Abu Dhabi’s heritage and has also been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover six magnificent oases as well as the archaeological sites of Bida bint Saud, Hafeet and Hili, which are home to remains of several prehistoric cultures. Circular stone tombs, towers, palaces and falaj (intelligent irrigation system) are all vestiges that bear witness to the human occupation of this desert region and the cultural transitions of the region.
