The UAE is officially the best tourist spot in the Mena region
The United Arab Emirates also placed 18th globally
In an incredible surge forward, the UAE has surpassed Greece, New Zealand, Sweden, Barbados and many more in the World Economic Forum’s Travel & Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024.
Jumping up seven places to 18th place, the country is making significant progress towards the goal of being the world’s best tourist destination by 2031.
If that wasn’t enough, the UAE has also topped the charts in the Mena region to become the number one tourist destination. In the TTDI report, data also shows the UAE coming in at first place globally for air transport infrastructure and second for infrastructure and services.
The aim to be number one across the globe by 2031 as the best tourist destination comes with the goal of also boosting the tourism sector’s contribution to GDP by Dh450 billion; attracting investments worth Dh100 billion; and welcoming 40 million hotel guests annually by 2031.
