South African specialty : The Biltong
Biltong is a South African specialty that was originally introduced by Dutch settlers. Originally, this dried meat generously seasoned with vinegar, coriander, pepper and chilli was primarily practical. Today, biltong is one of the most popular snacks in the country. For a long time, this typical South African dish can be cooked from exotic meats such as oryx, eland, zebra, kudu, ostrich or springbok. Biltong is therefore an excellent way to discover the particularities of South African cuisine and to nibble locally.
