Assam is known for its tea and silk. The state was the first oil drilling site in Asia. Assam is home to the Indian one-horned rhinoceros, as well as wild water buffalo, pygmy boar, tiger and various Asian bird species, and is one of the last wild habitats of the Asian elephant.
