Australia : the need to protect endemic fish species
Given that endangered fish species are still being lawfully exported, University of Queensland researchers are advocating for changes to Australia’s environmental regulations.
Based on their research, four species—the orange roughy, blue warehou, school shark, and southern bluefin tuna—have been designated under Australia’s Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act and are permitted to be lawfully exported from the country. The study is released in the journal npj Ocean Sustainability.
