Indian Ocean Craft Triennial: Convergence of Diverse International Cultures in Australia

 

The Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA) 2024, scheduled from August 1 to October 16, 2024, in Western Australia, is a cultural event celebrating contemporary craft and promoting cultural exchange in the Indian Ocean region.

The 2nd Indian Ocean Craft Triennial in 2024 will explore contemporary craft through international exhibitions, conferences, and over 70 events in Western Australia.

The event will extend across three months, unfolding at multiple venues throughout Western Australia.

This triennial will showcase craft artists and groups hailing from six countries bordering the Indian Ocean: India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, South Africa, alongside First Nations Australians and individuals from varied Australian backgrounds.

Anticipated to draw a diverse crowd encompassing artists, craft aficionados, and cultural academics, this event will provide a distinctive platform to delve into the intricate cultural mosaic of the Indian Ocean region.
