Oman Across Ages Museum and Indian Smritivan Earthquake Memorial Museum shortlisted for UNESCO’s Prix Versailles Award 2024

In a recent update, the Smritivan Museum in Gujarat and the Oman Across Ages Museum have been nominated for the esteemed Prix Versailles Award 2024 by UNESCO.

The Smritivan Museum in Gujarat stands out as a poignant repository of historical recollections, infusing its displays with emotional resonance. It stands as a testament to human perseverance, commemorating the devastating earthquake in Gujarat that claimed numerous lives.

Conversely, the Oman Across Ages Museum is a marvel of architecture inspired by the picturesque Omani terrain. Its design intricately mirrors the awe-inspiring Al Hajar mountain range, featuring sharp angles and contours that echo the grandeur of the towering peaks, seamlessly blending nature with innovation.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, the Versailles International Prize for Architecture and Design has curated a selection of the most exceptional museums globally for 2024. This roster comprises seven recently inaugurated or refurbished museums that epitomize creativity, celebrate local heritage, prioritize sustainability, and positively influence their environs.

The laureates of the International Versailles Prize for this year will be disclosed in November, upholding UNESCO’s tradition established in 2015. This accolade honors outstanding contemporary architectural endeavors, with twenty-four international distinctions conferred across diverse categories encompassing airports, university campuses, train stations, stadiums, sports facilities, museums, shopping centers, hotels, and restaurants.
