Reunion Island, a festive recipe: Creole pâté
“Creole pâté is a symbol of the fusion of Reunion Island cuisine because it combines techniques from French cuisine (godiveau – meat preserved in fat) and Indian cuisine (small cakes made from shortcrust pastry, flavored and colored with turmeric). This harmonious blend of different cultures, due to time and human intermingling, has made this dish a typical dish of Reunion Island, which is not found in other countries in the Indian Ocean region (Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, etc.).”
