“Sing Dance Cry Breathe “at Museum MACAN, Indonesia
Bring together a wide range of Arunanondchai’s artistic practices, from his most renowned video installations, paintings, as well as newly created site-specific installation, the exhibition is imagined as a theater of non-humans that embody anthropomorphic forms and perform through light, sound, and image.
Known for his storytelling approach, his works explore our need for stories while questioning and reimagining those that no longer help us understand today’s world. Inspired by feelings of loss, fear, and uncertainty, he combines ideas from animism and science fiction to create art that focuses on human emotions and embrace complexity without definitive resolutions.
In this exhibition, Arunanondchai also highlighted symbols of birds and snakes, common in myths around the world. He uses them as metaphors to explore how humans connect social systems with nature, beyond their physical appearance or stories.
