The National Museum of Tanzania
The National Museum of Tanzania is a consortium of Tanzanian museums whose aim is to preserve and display exhibits on the history and natural environment of Tanzania. The consortium grew out of the National Museum in Dar es Salaam, established in 1934 by the Governor of Tanganyika Harold MacMichael. Four other museums later joined the consortium, namely the Village Museum, the National Museum of Natural History and the Arusha Declaration in Arusha, and the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Museum in Butiama.
