Indonesia : Save the forests and culture of the little island ENGGANO
The Enggano Islands, located in Bengkulu Province, have tropical forests that continue to diminish. As an archipelago, land and sea threats to the region are very high. The threat of climate change is having a significant impact on land, small island areas like Enggano, climate change poses a serious threat, rising sea levels will submerge parts of the region, destroying coral reefs and habitats sailors. Terrestrial habitats are also affected by uncertain climates and extreme weather conditions.
When first contacted by Europeans, the Enggano people had more cultural commonalities with indigenous peoples of the Nicobar Islands than with those of Austronesian Sumatra. For instance, beehive houses were typical of both Enggano Island and the Nicobar Islands
